ADVOCACY

Advocacy Services work with victims of sexual assault (stranger and non stranger) and domestic violence throughout their case to ensure that the legal remedies they seek enhance their overall safety, and to provide resources, information and referrals as the survivor’s situation changes over time. Advocates are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  They are available through the hotline, for hospital accompaniment, and by appointment or walk in during office hours                                Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Advocacy supports include:

  • information and education on forensic exams and community medical resources;

  • information and education about how to petition for a Protection Order;

  • assistance drafting petitions for Temporary and Civil Protection Orders;

  • general legal information and resources;

  • referral to an attorney;

  • information on Crime Victim's Compensation;

  • safety planning assistance;

  • public benefits and social services referrals;

  • emergency financial assistance;

  • emergency cell phones;

  • diapers, formula, and baby supplies;

  • court accompaniment for victims;

  • emotional support; and

  • assistance with any other portion of the court or social services system.
